Regulations for the Shipment of Dangerous Goods

New regulations relating to the shipment of Dangerous Goods, particularly infectious substances and diagnostic specimens, have been brought in by the Australian government to abide by conditions laid down by the International Air Transport Association.
Dangerous goods are defined as any substance that can form a significant risk to health safety or property

There are 9 hazard classes:
1. explosives
2. gases
3. flammable liquids
4. flammable solids
5. oxidising substances and organic peroxide
6. toxic and infectious substances
7. radioactive material
8. corrosives
9. miscellaneous including dry ice

**Note: It is imperative that correct shipping procedures are followed since those found to be in breach of these conditions may be subject to heavy fines and possible jail sentences.
