UNDERGRADUATE PRIZES

The School of BABS presents student prizes each year for commendable academic achievement. These prizes have been made possible by the generous support of individual donors and organisational donors, as well as some being funded by the School.

All prizes and the names of the awardees are published in The Sydney Morning Herald in February of each year. Students are also notified via their UNSW email address.

Examples of past prizes (these can change from year to year) are as follows:

  • The School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science Prize in Level 2 Biochemistry for the best performance in the examinations in level 2 Biochemistry courses (prize value $500)
  • The School of  Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science Prize in Level 3 Biochemistry for the best performance in the examinations in Level 3 Biochemistry courses (prize value $500)
  • The School of  Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science Prize for the best performance in BIOC3111 Molecular Biology of Proteins (prize value $500)
  • The Shelston IP Prize for the best performance in BABS3091 Professional Issues in Biotechnology (prize value $500)
  • The Jackson Prize for Honours Year for best overall performance in Honours year (prize value $1,000)
  • The Jackson Prize in Microbiology and Immunology for the best performance in Microbiology and Immunology Honours (prize value $1,000)
  • The Garry King Prize for the best Honours thesis in a Molecular Biology or Genetics major (prize value $500)
