BABS Undergraduate Scholarships

BABS Talented Student Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Year 1
The School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences is offering a "Talented Student" Scholarship of $1000 for the second year student who performed best in their 1st year.
 
The conditions are that you must have completed Year 1 of Biotechnology (program 3052), Science (program 3970), Advanced Science (programs 3972 or 3990) or Medical Science (program 3991) as a full-time student at UNSW in 2005 with a WAM >75. You must also be a full-time student in one of these programs in 2006 and enrolled in all four of BIOC2101, BIOC2201, MICR2201 and MICR2011 this year. Anyone who is already receiving a scholarship for their study at UNSW in 2006 is not eligible.
 
Applications in the form of a copy of your full academic transcript and a brief covering letter should be addressed to A/Prof Mike Edwards and be submitted to the BABS Student Office by 17th March, 2006. If there is more than one eligible applicant, the Scholarship will be awarded to the student with the highest 2005 WAM. Further detailed information about the conditions for the award of the Talented Student Scholarship can be obtained from the BABS Student Office.
 
 
BABS Talented Student Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Year 2
The School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences is offering a "Talented Student" Scholarship of $1000 for the third year student whe performed best in their 2nd year.
 
The conditions are that you must have completed Year 2 of Biotechnology (program 3052), Science (program 3970), Advanced Science (programs 3972 or 3990) or Medical Science (program 3991) as a full-time student in 2005 and have completed at least three of BIOC2101, BIOC2201, MICR2201 and MICR2011 last year with a WAM >75. You must also be a full-time student in one of these programs in 2006, enrolled in at least 6 BABS courses (BIOC, MICR or BIOT course codes) this year and on track to meet all the requirements for an Honours year in BABS in 2007. Anyone who is already receiving a scholarship for their study at UNSW in 2006 is not eligible.

BABS Talented Student Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Year 3
The School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences is offering a "Talented Student" Scholarship of $1200 for the Honours student who performed best in their 3rd year.
 
The conditions are that you must have completed Year 3 of Biotechnology (program 3052), Science (program 3970), Advanced Science (programs 3972 or 3990) or Medical Science (program 3991) as a full-time student in 2005 and have completed at least 6 BABS courses (BIOC, MICR or BIOT course codes) last year with a WAM >75. You must also be a full-time BABS Honours student in 2006 (that is enrolled in 48 UOC). Anyone who is already receiving a scholarship for their study at UNSW in 2006 is not eligible.

The Roy and Lois Tirrell Scholarship (L)
 
· $1,500
· One year
 
Applicants must have completed the first year of their university studies and be commencing the second year of a science program at UNSW, with a major in biochemistry or molecular biology in degree program 3970 (BSc) or in the corresponding study plans in degree program 3972 (BSc – advanced science). Preference may be given to Indigenous students, or students from rural or isolated areas of Australia. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of academic merit and interview performance.

Applications close March 31.
