For current BABS undergraduate students, your major will normally determine which course you should enrol in. Students who wish to enrol in a course not aligned with their major must first seek advice from the BABS Honours Coordinator.
Admission is competitive and depends on academic merit and the availability of approved supervision. Consideration of academic merit is focused on performance in third level BABS subjects. Students with an average of 65 or lower in third-level BABS courses are usually not admitted; those achieving an average of 65 or higher may be admitted if approved supervision is available.
Please keep in mind that the supervisor nominated as your first choice may not always be available. Accordingly, you are requested to list five choices of supervisor and project in order of preference. To ensure that a sufficient number of students undertake their Honours project within BABS, please include at least one BABS project in your list of five.
It is essential to spend time with prospective supervisors and discuss the details of potential projects before submitting your preferences.
Do not be deterred if you feel you are not a scientific genius; Honours and MPhil programs are designed for people who are keen and prepared to work accordingly.
Students from other institutions
We welcome applications from graduates from any other University in Australia and beyond. Please provide a description of the subjects you have completed so we can assess equivalence to our own units.
