APA Industry Scholarship Available for PhD student Using modern molecular technologies the student will screen marine "metagenomes" to identify novel genes/ gene clusters responsible for the production of new bioactive agents. These novel compounds will be used in conjunction with an international industrial partner. This research will be conducted in the Centre of Marine Biofouling and Bioinnovation(UNSW) and in part within the laboratory of the industrial partner. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to travel and will gain unique skills in a rapidly growing area of science. The scholarship is only available to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents and pays an annual tax-free stipend of $23,556 (for 3 years). Suitable candidates should have a BSc (Hons) in biology or chemistry with experience in the field of molecular biology and/or natural product/ analytical chemistry.
