BABS 3rd Annual Symposium Culminates in Awards for Best Presentations Honours and Postgraduate Students Presented Ongoing Research The Third Annual BABS Symposium was held at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Bondi. Attendees listened to 19 oral presentations and viewed 47 poster presentations. Sponsorship enabled the awarding of the following prizes Best Oral presentation ($250.00) sponsored by Bio-Rad: Scott Melville for his talk entitled "Identification of the neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis gene in Border collies" Runner-up Oral Presentation ($250.00) sponsored by Oxoid: Lisa Rodgers for her talk entitled "Investigating the structural evolution of sol-gel matrices for immobilisation of enzymes" Best Poster by Postgraduate student ($250.00) sponsored by Qiagen: Katherine Jackson for her presentation entitled "Establishing criteria for the identification of IGHD genes in rearranged human immunoglobulin heavy chains" Runner-up Poster by Postgraduate student ($125.00) sponsored by Progen Biosciences: May Reodica for her presentation entitled "The expression of meiotic genes during mitosis: the contribution of developmental gene repression" Best Poster by Honours student ($250.00) sponsored by Promega: Elise Tu for her presentation entitled "Use of a commercial enzyme immunoassay for the detection of norovirus in stools."
