Environmental Genomics in Australia:
- The Australian Genome Alliance (http://www.genomealliance.org.au/) is lobbying the Federal Government to establish a new genomics research fund to ensure that Australia's unique genetic heritage is harvested by Australia and not by other nations. The national web-site describes the importance of Australian environmental microbiology (http://www.genomealliance.org.au/projects/EnvironmentalMicrobiology/EnvironmentalMicrobiology.html), and is highlighted as one of the few national success stories (http://www.genomealliance.org.au/successes/Microbes/Microbes.htm ).
