Research Description:
John heads the 'Bio/polymer Research Group (BRG)' which has a focus on the production, characterisation and potential applications of novel biopolymers in medical and environmental areas. Research is also conducted into the development of biopolymer based materials and their bio/degradation. Potential applications include bioplastics, anti-foulin coatings and pro-active scaffolds for tissue engineering. The BRG has a strong applied research focus; current research on a novel sutureless technology has been internationally patented.

John has just returned to UNSW from a period of release as a 'Marie Curie International Incoming Fellow' at Forschungszentrum-Juelich in Germany. He is also an adjunct member of the Centre for Advanced Macromolecular Design (CAMD) in the School of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry at UNSW.
