Research Description:

There are two broad research themes investigated in my laboratory. The first theme revolves around bioprocessing issues in the generation of protein bioproducts. Bioprocessing is the engineering science of developing methods to manufacture bioproducts. Our laboratory undertakes research into both process development and into the isolation and discovery of new biological molecules. We investigate their potential application, methods of production and purification and in some cases their origin and function. The second research theme is investigating the physiology of zooxanthellae (unicellular algae) and the relationship between them and their symbiotic hosts in the marine environment.
